This is the website of me, Felix Thaler. I am a computer science student, especially interested in computer graphics and everything related. I like the stunning results today's coders and artists can get out of their hard- and software and the endless possibilities of freedom to create whatever you want - even if it's only virtually. So I enjoy doing 3D and 2D computer graphics art and creating programs, mostly CGI related stuff like ray tracers, fluid simulators, realtime graphic applications and others.

Just scroll down to see some of my work...

2D Fluid

This image shows the result of a 2D fluid simulation. The simulator was coded in C and uses a projection method on a 2D finite difference grid and MIC preconditioned CG to solve the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations.

Lighters

Just some CGI lighters...

Alarm

A still from a short made for an anniversary event of a accordion group. The duration of the full film was 1 minute and 8 seconds, produced in just about three weeks. Everything was done in Blender and rendered using V-Ray. See below for the full video.

Pentagonal Buddhabrot

This image shows a pentagonal Buddhabrot, rendered using a multithreaded fractal renderer implemented in C++. The program uses a probability distribution function automatically generated out of the Mandelbrot set to choose the random starting positions in such a way, that the probability of a converging sequence is pretty small and the calculation is pretty efficient.

To achieve different looks the convergence criterion and number of sample points was altered.
